Kultura Celebrates Every Filipina

Launched during the International Women’s Month last March, Kultura continues to shine the spotlight especially on the women closest to our hearts: Filipinas.

Every year, Kultura takes this opportunity to honor all the women that nurture and care for us and are the light of our homes; the soul sisters who have our backs and lift us up; the women artisans behind our handicrafts and local industries; and all the women whose wisdom, grace, and strength are the backbone of our communities.

For this year's #CelebrateEveryFilipina series, we featured a diverse range of amazing women who embody what it means to be an empowered Filipina in today’s society. Smart, passionate, courageous, beautiful, and strong, these women are gorgeous proof that we can achieve anything we put our mind to, and we can do it in style.

The list includes: Olympian swimmer Jasmine Alkhaldi, educator and Philippine Eagle advocate Felicia Hung Atienza, volleyball player Michelle Cobb, restauranteur Ana de Ocampo, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, fitness coach Patricia Gatus, Beauty Queen Laura Lehmann, journalist MJ Marfori, mental health advocate Steph Naval, and Senator Grace Poe.

From March until May, we featured one Filipina a week on our social media pages, wearing fabulous modern Filipiniana and sharing her thoughts, tips, and personal experiences—not just on being an empowered woman, but on uplifting other women as well. As Senator Grace Poe shares, “An empowered Filipina is someone who is confident, who can stand up for herself, but an even stronger Filipina is somebody who can stand up for everybody else.” 

Restauranteur Ana de Ocampo wears a puff-sleeved printed top with zigzag ribbon trim.
 

Olympian Swimmer Jasmine Alkhaldi is in an embroidered organza cropped camisa with a ruffled collar, accessorized with hand-beaded faux amethyst earrings and eye-catching crystal bangles. She also wears a one-shoulder crop top in Ilocano Kantarines weave with wire-wrapped earrings and a bracelet with semi-precious stones.

Educator Felicia Hung Atienza wears a sleeveless inabel top with a scalloped neckline, dangling baroque pearl earrings and baroque pearl skinny bangles. She also wears a delightful button-down terno-sleeved top in floral brocade with a freshwater coin pearl cluster necklace and freshwater pearl rings.

Fitness coach Patricia Gatus wears a red silk terno top with floral-print sleeves, triple-strand dangling earrings, a gold-plated necklace with freshwater pearls, and a pearl and metal-link bracelet. 

Volleyball player Michelle Cobb is in an ikat weave cropped terno top, a baroque pearl choker, pearl earrings, and a pearl ring.

Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco wears an elegant butterfly-sleeved organza top and Mikado silk skirt, accessorized with a white South Sea pearl necklace, white South Sea pearl studs, and a Philippine flag pin. She is also seen here in a white cotton jacquard terno top, a Mikado silk skirt, and South Sea pearl stud earrings with diamonds.

Journalist MJ Marfori shines in a batik-print terno bolero and co-ord skirt, accessorized with a copper wire necklace with agate stones.

Mental health advocate Steph Naval models a dainty handpainted floral organza kimona with a black pearl pendant necklace, a black and white pearl bangle, and a sterling silver ring.

Senator Grace Poe wears a versatile terno bolero in an ethnic weave, accessorized with a champagne South Sea pearl choker and champagne South Sea pearl studs. She also wears a statement floral-print terno top with an asymmetrical hem, white South Sea pearl studs, and a white South Sea pearl bracelet.

Beauty Queen Laura Lehmann is seen here in a floral-print terno bolero, quartz dangling earrings, a red beaded necklace with a baroque pearl pendant, a red bead cluster bangle, and a sterling silver ring with semi-precious stones.
